I'm back. Why now? Why not?

There are changes coming to my life.. not small ones. BIG ONES. And I need a place to sort through them all. Fingers crossed, I will be consistent in journaling in 2017 and beyond.

This account has been around for over six years. Time to put it to use. ;-)

Sorry for the absence, folks. I'm back, and eager to blog!

First things first: over at my Beyond Elsewhere community, serial story tellin' time is taking place for those who want to read a take of my own version of time travel and whimsical adventure. Come and get it if you want it. ;-)

I hope everyone made it through to 2011 without any significant scratches or dings.

In the meanwhile, a very public THANK YOU and NOM-NOM-NOM to my pal Piroshki for the tasty goodness that recently made it to my mail box. Good grief, if anything tastes better than that on warm raisin bread, I don't want to know about it! (a reciprocal package of a sort is already on the way)

I am in the midst of nailing down a second job of part-time stature, along with reducing my off-site storage requirements and financial footprint. If nothing else gets done in 2011, I will eliminate as much personal debt as humanly possible, though preferably all the way down to ZERO bucks. It is not that I don't make decent money (trust me, I know I am blessed), but I really need to resolve and close out some old business as well as place myself in a position where I can take more time off to do more of the things I love to do.

Ebay, Craigslist, the local classified ads, and anything else I can think of to make some coin while ridding myself of things I no longer need or use is going to be the norm for some time to come. Ditto with Freecycle, the Salvation Army, Goodwill, etc. for those items that have some life left in them but are not commercially viable.

And yes, I will post any items up for sale (behind a cut) for anyone interested in buying stuff from moi. ;-)

New year means new resolutions. I'll post mine as soon as a bit more of the new year has taken place. In the meanwhile, feel free to share yours if you wish in the comments section. I can always use the inspiration!

Live like you mean it, folks! ;-)

Yup, finally blogging again. Let's get with it, shall we?

For those who want to read what I've done so far today, feel free to visit the Live Journal entry.

I posted over on my Facebook about a message I saw on a marquee on my way to the local newsstand: Don't let YESTERDAY consume all of your TODAY. Sadly, I am sometimes pretty bad about not following that sage piece of advise. Perhaps you guys can relate. I can only tell you that our past not only shapes our present, but can set the stage for our future, if we allow it too. We ignore history at our own peril, lest we repeat it, and some history is worth retaining if good comes from it. I certainly wouldn't be the person I am today if it weren't for the life experiences that put me in at this point on my personal timeline.

Here's hoping that my future actions are good ones worth savoring down the road.

It's shaping to be a nice day here in Lawton. With Pandora in the background, and stuff in my head to be captured by the word processor, I know how this day is going to shake out. Life like you mean it folks, and enjoy the rest of your weekends! :D

I've got lots of things going on at the moment, so I am trying to employ countermeasures to ensure that the priority stuff gets taken care of first. Once I get past this week, I will work harder to update this blog, to include configuring it into something more user friendly, and catch up on all the Dreamwidth activities of my online pals.

In the meanwhile, I am also on Facebook (a bit easier to input entries), as well as Twitter, so catch me at those locales as well.

Live like you mean it, folks! ;-)

A public service announcement for you good folks who have taken the time to include me in your circle of friends here on Dreamwidth.

First of all, thank you. I appreciate your time, your faith in my ability to not betray your trust, and your friendship over the years.

Further assuming that I like this blog environment better than that on Live Journal, I will finally utilize FILTERS as a means to immune those folks from my political blatherings. If you want in on my thoughts on all things political, feel free to let me know, and I will include you in. Trying to maintain a separate blog for such things are both time consuming, as well as a bit confusing.

2010 is going to be interesting enough on the American electorate as it is without heated passions creating unneeded drama here on these pages. Let's live and let live, ne c'est pas? ;-)

Cheers,
Bryan

Greetings all!

First and foremost, many thanks to my Live Journal pal tensegrity for the Dreamwidth invite! I really appreciate the quick reply to my call for assistance. If you are of a drinking persuasion, I've got the first couple of rounds at the next pub we mutually find ourselves in. ;-)

I wish I had something more profound to say with this initial entry, but I am at a loss for words. So, let me just go and put the following out there now...

I have been with Live Journal since 2004, less than a full year after retiring from active duty in the US Army. I have tried my best to keep a balance between blogging the events of my life while actually living it. In recent years, my online blogging efforts have slowed due to a series of factors, but the fact remains that I still desire to maintain an online presence in the blogosphere.

As of late, Live Journal (the business side of the website) has become more and more alien in its management practices and policies, so I have decided to explore other venues in which to chronicle the thoughts in my head. This new online journal is to be considered a live test drive to see if I can make a go of this as an alternative. At some point, I'll dress up the place, and play with the custom settings. Expect me to make a purchase if I find it user friendly enough for moi. I won't stop using LJ during the evaluation period, but I will do a lot of cross-posting as needed. Due to the sheer volume of people I know and have friended over the years, I will never delete my primary account (itzWicks), but I will consider using it as a monitoring post, should I elect to make a permanent jump to Dreamwidth or some other blog site.

I welcome all constructive feedback in the comments section, as well as email: itzwicks AT yahoo DOT com.

Assuming that things work out well here, I'll port select posts from the other site over here. If nothing else, my lengthy rendition of "why I blog" will be included within the next couple of entries. Mistakes made in on the other blog will be avoided if possible, and lessons learned will certainly be applied to the best of my ability. All that I ask is that everyone who ends up on these pages keep it civil.

That's it for the moment. I will focus on real content in the next post.

Cheers,
Bryan
